2019: The Foundation
SWG originally founded in 2019 as Swedish War Gods before later rebranding to Swedish War Gamers. SWG began after a match against a fellow Swedish clan. Following an invite given to Aquilla to enter an upcoming Hardcore Search & Destroy (HC SnD) tournament, he approached Obi and Wolfking with the idea of forming a dedicated team rather than joining as a casual mix. They agreed, and the groundwork for SWG was laid.
The Original Lineups
To build the initial roster, we looked to players we already knew and trusted. The founding lineup consisted of Aquilla, Obi, Wolfking, Pato, Zerox, Zhaba, and Waffle. This core already had years of experience playing together in Counter Strike and Rainbow Six Siege. Shortly after, the roster expanded to include Reqtum, TT, Luna, Mauzen, Wicked, and Jezza, bringing in another group of close friends from across the other games we played.
First Tournament, First Title
We entered that first HC SnD tournament with zero expectations and ended up taking first place. Winning our debut event proved that our background in other tactical shooters translated directly to Call of Duty. That first win got us hooked on competing and turned a team formed for a single tournament into SWG.
